What I wish I knew before our first vet visit
Our first vet visit was a mess. I forgot the papers from the breeder, Biscuit ate a treat from the floor of the waiting room, and I couldn't remember a single question I wanted to ask.
Bring
- Any vaccination records and papers you were given.
- A list of what and how much your pug eats.
- A few photos or a short video if something odd happens at home (snoring, coughing, limping).
Ask about
- Breathing. Flat-faced breeds often have narrow nostrils, and it is worth knowing early.
- Eyes. Pug eyes are exposed and scratch easily.
- A target weight. A pug that is a little chubby has a much harder time breathing.
And bring treats of your own, so they don't go looking for them on the floor.
